Two NYPD Officers Shot In The Bronx

One of the officers was reported to be in grave condition after being shot in the head.

Two New York police officers were shot Thursday night in the Bronx, leaving one of them in grave conditions after reportedly taking a bullet to the head.

The circumstances of the shooting, which occurred in the Bronx, were not immediately known. One suspect was reportedly in custody.

An official told the New York Times that the officers were on duty when they were shot in the area of a housing complex near 156th Street.

The condition of the second officer was not immediately clear, but ABC 7 reported that they were shot in the leg. Other reports suggested it could have been the arm.

Both officers were rushed to Lincoln Hospital.

The shooting occurred as Mayor Bill de Blasio delivered his State of the City speech less than 5 miles away. According to reporter at the event, he was whisked away by aides amid news of the shooting breaking.
