This Is How Much Water Spilled During The Massive UCLA Flood

20 million gallons is a lot of hamburgers.

20 million gallons of water would last for thousands of years if used for ordinary household tasks.

If a shower uses 25 gallons of water (2.5 gallons per minute x 10 minutes) and the average American takes one shower a day, it'd take about 2,192 years to use 20 million gallons.

If the water was used only for flushing a toilet, it would last even longer. Assuming the toilet is newer and flushed five times per day, it'd take roughly 6,849 years to go through as much water as was lost near UCLA Tuesday. Or, 20 million gallons could have been used for a single lifetime of toilet flushes for about 85 people.

Using the water in a dishwasher would stretch it out nearly as long as recorded human history. Assuming your dishwasher is newer and uses 5.8 gallons of water per cycle, 20 million gallons would last about 9,447 years.

Jim Dalrymple II

Kitchen faucets in the U.S. are now limited to using 2.5 gallons per minute or less. So, if you just turned the faucet on and let it run, it'd take 8 million minutes to use up 20 million gallons — or just over 15 years.

A faucet that drips once per minute produces about 1,440 drips per day, or 34 gallons of water per year (of course, some faucets drip much more than once per minute). At that rate, it would take about 588,235 years to drip 20 million gallons of water.

The Ebola outbreak is moving faster than the efforts to control it and the consequences could be catastrophic, Dr. Margaret Chan, director-general of the World Health Organization, told the presidents of Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone at a meeting Friday to introduce a $100-million plan to fight the spread of the disease.

"If the situation continues to deteriorate, the consequences can be catastrophic in terms of lost lives but also severe socioeconomic disruption and a high risk of spread to other countries. As I said before, this meeting must mark a turning point in the outbreak response," Chan told the heads of state, according to a WHO transcript.

Dutch and Australian investigators set up base at the crash site hours after 13 Ukrainian soldiers died in an ambush by pro-Russian rebels nearby.

Dozens of international investigators arrived in eastern Ukraine on Friday to recover the remains of as many as 80 victims at the crash site of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, the Associated Press reported .

Australian and Dutch investigators, along with officials from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, traveled to the crash site outside the village of Hrabove in the Donetsk region and have set up base camp at a chicken farm. The international team will comb the rural area for human remains and the plane's debris.

Hours before they arrived, pro-Russian separatist rebels killed at least 10 Ukrainian solders during an ambush in a town located close to the site of the crash, despite a tentative cease-fire declared between both sides around the crash zone.

The investigators' priority is to recover the remains of passengers' bodies and their belongings. The human remains are said to have been rotting in 90 degree heat since the crash on July 17.

They will also search for evidence in the plane's wreckage. The crash site will be designated a crime zone, Australian police officer, Brian McDonald, told reporters in Hrabrove. Trained dogs will be part of the search team.

Clashes between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels have complicated efforts by investigative teams to retrieve victims' bodies. Pro-Russian rebels have also reportedly tampered with evidence.

Friday morning's attack on the Ukrainian convoy took place before the end of the 24-hour "day of quiet" declared on Thursday, said Ukraine security spokesman Vladislav Seleznev. "The militants are behaving in a cowardly and shameless fashion," Seleznev said. "They used the 'day of quiet' just to fire on us."

A Mother-Of-Five Wrote A Viral Facebook Post Saying She Was Shamed At The Beach For Her Stretch Marks

She says she was shamed for wearing a bikini and showing her stretch marks. “What great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?”

This is an open letter to the 2 guys and 1 girl who decided to skip work today in Sherwood Park where they were building a house , but instead decided to come to Alberta Beach to relax in the sun, enjoy the water and some beers.

I'm sorry if my first attempt at sun tanning in a bikini in public in 13 years "grossed you out". I'm sorry that my stomach isn't flat and tight. I'm sorry that my belly is covered in stretch marks. I'm NOT sorry that my body has housed, grown, protected, birthed and nurtured FIVE fabulous, healthy, intelligent and wonderful human beings. I'm sorry if my 33 year old, 125 lb body offended you so much that you felt that pointing, laughing, and pretending to kick me. But I'll have you know that as I looked at your 'perfect' young bodies, I could only think to myself "what great and amazing feat has YOUR body done?".

I'll also have you know that I held my head high, unflinching as you mocked me, pretending that what you said and did had no effect on me; but I cried in the car on the drive home. Thanks for ruining my day. It's people like you who make this world an ugly hateful place. I can't help but feel sorry for the women who will one day bear your children and become "gross" in your eyes as their bodies change during the miraculous process of pregnancy. I can only hope that one day you'll realize that my battle scars are something to be proud of, not ashamed of.

The letter certainly struck a chord, it was picked up by a local radio station and was shared over a million times.
