The incident happened at a sprint car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park in New York.
Yahoo News reports: "The sheriff's department declined to identify the driver, who was pronounced dead at 11:15 ET Saturday, but according to multiple witnesses it was 20-year-old Kevin Ward."
Video posted to YouTube and subsequently taken down shows the driver getting out of the car and gesticulating after a collision that sends his car into a wall.
Several cars pass by him, before he is eventually hit by Stewart's car.
