Arctic Outbreak To Bring Season's Coldest Weather To U.S.

Winter is coming…next week.

Starting Monday, the frigid weather will hit the northern Rockies and northern plains.

Fargo, Minneapolis and Chicago will face the brunt of the cold weather beginning Tuesday, according to AccuWeather.com with the latter two facing their first sub-freezing high temperature of the season.

The northeast will face the arctic blast by Wednesday and New York City is set to get chilly late next week.

The worst of the cold will be centered in the northern Plains and Midwest but temperatures will drop below average for much of central and eastern U.S.

People are likely to feel even colder because of the breeze accompanying the cold air.

The remnants of Typhoon Nuri, which curved east of Asia earlier this week, will slam Alaska with huge waves, strong winds, and drive temperatures down across the U.S.

The storm could likely be stronger than Superstorm Sandy and is expected to produce 50-foot waves and hurricane-force winds over the weekend.
