The number of American forces in Iraq could nearly double as American officials plan to address Islamic State, according to reports.

U.S. Military leaders are planning to significantly increase the number of American troops in Iraq as a way to confront Islamic State militants, Reuters reported.
President Obama's administration is preparing to announce the number of troops in Iraq will nearly double, NBC News reported. There are currently about 1,400 American troops there.
