A man took hostages Saturday at the Tomball Regional Medical Center.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Department, the man was the "father of a patient and is distraught." It was not immediately clear if he was armed, but the department's High Risk Operation Unit had been deployed.
The incident was taking place at 605 Holderrieth Boulevard, about 30 miles from downtown Houston. A dispatcher at the medical center said about 8:10 p.m. CT that the "situation is being assessed at this time." She did not provide additional information.
