NEW YORK CITY — A former Department of Correction officer shot and killed a man in a busy Brooklyn subway station Tuesday night.

The shooting took place at the Borough Hall station in downtown Brooklyn. Lexington Avenue Line trains in both directions were skipping the station, PIX 11 reported.

Norman Seabrook, the head of the New York City Correction Officer Benevolent association, confirmed that the shooter was a retired DOC officer.

"We should not rush to judgment before we know all the facts," Seabrook told BuzzFeed News.

Police did not immediately release the name or age of the victim or the gunman.

The New York City Police Department declined to comment. The DOC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
