A man was detained Wednesday near an event in Los Angeles that Vice President Joe Biden was expected to attend after authorities found a loaded gun in the suspect's car.
Sgt. Kyle Kirkman of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood division told BuzzFeed News that the unidentified man had not yet been arrested.
The Los Angeles Times reported the man was at a checkpoint for visitors when a police dog alerted authorities to a firearm.
Biden was expected to be at the event with other local officials, including Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, for a press conference on raising the minimum wage in North Hollywood.
The event was being held at a washroom accessory and partition manufacturing business, according to the mayor's schedule.
