All Los Angeles public schools are closed Tuesday after the Los Angeles Unified School District received a threat, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson told BuzzFeed News.
The chief of school police, Steven Zipperman, said in a press conference Tuesday morning that the threat was received electronically.
The LAPD spokesperson did not elaborate on the type of threat, but said they are shutting the schools as a precaution. The Los Angeles Times reported it was a bomb threat.
"It is important that I take the precaution based on what has happened recently and what has happened in the past," a school official said. "There was not threat made to busses. They were returned because we're not picking up students."
