The first trial of a police officer on charges associated with Freddie Gray, a young black man who died in April after suffering injuries in Baltimore police custody, ended in a mistrial Wednesday after jurors were unable to reach a verdict after three days of deliberation.
Officer William Porter was charged with involuntary manslaughter, second-degree assault, misconduct in office, and reckless endangerment associated with Gray’s death. Porter pleaded not guilty and maintained he sought medical help for Gray.
