LE BOURGET, FRANCE — A global agreement aimed at halting human-caused climate changed appeared to be on the verge of reality Saturday morning.

The agreement was outlined in a 31-page text that was the result of two weeks of arduous negotiating. The text was just the latest draft of the agreement, which underwent major revisions as various countries fought to protect their interests, hold major polluters accountable, and solve what leaders and scientists have called one one of the world's most significant threats.

Among the most signifiant provisions in the proposed agreement were agreements to hold the global temperature rise "well below 2 degrees C," promises by developed countries to financially support developing countries transition to clean energy, and plans to reevaluate the world's climate goals in coming years.

The text was released early Saturday afternoon — one day after the talks were supposed to conclude — and representatives from around the world were scheduled to meet later to decide the agreement's fate. Both French President François Hollande, as well as the president of the talks Laurent Fabius, called on countries to approve the agreement during rousing speeches Saturday.

This is a developing story. Check back later and follow @BuzzFeedNews on Twitter for updates.
