South Korea's President Removed From Office After Court Upholds Impeachment

South Korea's Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of the country's President Park Geun-hye on Friday, removing the nation's democratically elected leader from office.

The ruling from the court was announced and televised live, Yonhap News agency reported.

Members of the country's National Assembly voted overwhelmingly to impeach the embattled president in December.

She was charged with letting a close friend meddle in state affairs and allegedly colluded with her to extort money from companies.
