The man now faces charges since confining wild animals is against the law, the West Virginia Natural Resources Police said.
A man in Cabell County, West Virginia, kept two deer inside his home for at least a year, according to the West Virginia Natural Resources Police.
Officers responded to the home on Saturday after receiving a complaint, police said. When they arrived, they found two bucks inside the home. An investigation revealed the animals had been living inside the home for at least a year, police said.
The deer were set free, and the man, who was not identified, is now facing charges, police said.
Confining wildlife anywhere that they are not allowed to freely roam is illegal, police said.
