Historic flooding has left at least two people dead in Louisiana, with officials warning residents on Saturday that things could get worse.
"This is certainly not over," Gov. John Edwards said. "The rain continues to fall in the areas that have been most impacted already."
More than 1,000 people had been rescued from rising waters, and Edwards on Friday declared a state of emergency in portions of the state.
A flood warning for southeastern Louisiana remained in effect through Sunday, with the storm expected to move west.

Officials urged residents to heed evacuation warnings and to stay off of wet roads, if possible.
By Saturday morning, search and rescue operations remained in effect and the National Guard had deployed high-water vehicles, boats, and helicopters.
In St. Helena Parish, a 54-year-old man was found dead inside his submerged vehicle, Louisiana state police said.
Another man died after he slipped and fell in water in East Baton Rouge, Edwards said.
