A White Tiger Has Attacked And Killed A Man At Delhi Zoo

It’s unknown if the man deliberately entered the animal’s enclosure or slipped. Some people may find these images disturbing.


A tiger has attacked and killed a man, believed to be a student, after he reportedly climbed into the animal’s enclosure at Delhi zoo.

Eyewitnesses said the white tiger grabbed the Indian man by the neck during the fatal incident just after midday on Tuesday.

According to Associated Press, National Zoological Park spokesman Riyaz Ahmed Khan said the man climbed over a knee-high fence and jumped 18ft down into a moat, despite being repeatedly warned not to get too close to the enclosure.

Other reports though suggest he may have slipped over the small barricade by accident after being spotted leaning over it.

Television pictures show the student, believed to be around 20 years old, crouching near a wall with the tiger next to him.

Eyewitness Bittoo, who is said to have recorded the incident on his mobile phone, said the tiger had initially just watched the man and only pounced when onlookers and guards tried to scare it away, the Times of India reported.

AP said his body remained in the enclosure two hours after the attack and he was pronounced dead by the time the authorities reached him.

The enclosure has now been roped off but the zoo remains open.
