A New York City doctor tested positive Thursday for Ebola, the New York Times reported, marking the fourth case of the virus in the United States. Officials were expected to confirm the report at a press conference Thursday night.
Dr. Craig Allen Spencer had recently returned from treating Ebola patients in West Africa. Doctors Without Borders, who he had been working with, said Spencer notified their office and health officials Thursday morning that he had developed a fever.
"As per the specific guidelines that Doctors Without Borders provides its staff on their return from Ebola assignments, the individual engaged in regular health monitoring and reported this development immediately," the group said in a statement.
