People gathered at the scene said a man was shot Tuesday night, though officials would not immediately confirm to BuzzFeed News what happened.
The crowd — which witnesses said included at least 100 people — gathered at a police line that surrounded a gas station in a town that lies just two miles from Ferguson. Rumors circulated widely that an officer had shot a man at the gas station, and witnesses in a live stream could be heard yelling "why the fuck he still on the ground?"
Police, however, would not immediately confirm to BuzzFeed News what had happened. The St. Louis County Police referred BuzzFeed News to the Berkeley Police Department. A Berkeley dispatcher then said she did not have information about the shooting and suggested calling back later.
Meanwhile the crowd continued to grow, with many yelling at the line of police officers.
