Landmarks across New York City went dark for five minutes Tuesday night in honor of the two NYPD officers who were shot and killed last week.
The lights were dimmed on the tree at Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and many other landmarks. Mayor Bill de Blasio asked for the demonstration, saying "our city is in pain."
The lights remained dimmed for five minutes beginning at 9 p.m.
