University Official Threatens To Call Police On Black Student Who Wanted To Speak To An Adviser

A Kennesaw State University student filmed the confrontation. The official said she was going to call campus security for “harassment.”

In the 30-second clip, Bruce, who is black, appears to be waiting inside the office to meet with Margaret Tilley. According to Kennesaw State's website, she is an academic adviser.

While Bruce was waiting, Abby Dawson, his assigned adviser, approached him and told him to "not harass Ms. Tilley like that" and threatened to call campus security.

Bruce, who is working toward a degree in exercise science, said that he was not harassing anybody. Dawson responded, "sitting here until somebody's available is harassing them."

Bruce did not have a meeting with Tilley that day. Dawson told him to "fill out a form like everybody else." It's unclear what happened before the video began rolling and whether Dawson ever called police.
