A single-engine plane registered to Oscar-winning Titanic composer James Horner crashed on Monday near Santa Barbara, California, Variety reported.

The pilot was killed and no one else was onboard, but the identity of the person who died has not yet been released. BuzzFeed News reached out to Horner's agent on Monday, but did not immediately hear back.

Local fire crews responded to a plane crash around 9:30 a.m. north of Santa Barbara in Vetucopa, igniting a one-care brush fire, the Associated Press reported.

An attorney for Horner, Jay Cooper, told the AP that Horner owns several planes, including the one in the crash. Cooper added that he hadn't heard from Horner, but noted that he likely would have if the 61-year-old composer wasn't in the plane.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Horner won two Oscars for his work in Titanic, which included best original dramatic score and best original song for "My Heart Will Go On," which was sung by Celine Dion.

He also wrote scores for Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, Legends of the Fall, and Avatar.
