  • The sixth — you read that right — Republican presidential candidate debate is 9 p.m. ET at the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center in South Carolina. Fox Business is moderating.
  • This is the second-to-last debate before the Iowa caucuses, the first official vote of the nominating season.
  • The prime time event features businessman Donald Trump, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. The undercard debate includes former HP CEO Carly Fiorina, former Kentucky Gov. Mike Huckabee, and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum.
  • The biggest possible showdown is between Trump and Cruz, who are polling neck-and-neck in Iowa. Trump has been questioning whether Cruz — born in Canada to a Cuban father and an American mother — is eligible to be president. Cruz also came under the spotlight Wednesday for not reporting a loan from Goldman Sachs for his Senate campaign.
  • Christie and Rubio, who have eyes on the New Hampshire primary, are also expected to mix it up.
  • The latest nationwide poll by CBS/The New York Times has Trump at 36%, Cruz at 19%, and Rubio at 12%. The latest poll from Iowa, by the Des Moines Register and Bloomberg, has Cruz at 25%, Trump at 22%, Rubio at 12%, and Carson at 11%,
