The Israeli Air Force says it has downed a Syrian aircraft with a Patriot missile as it approached Israeli territory, Haaretz reported.
Haaretz is reporting that the aircraft in question was MiG-21 fighter jet.
However, Israeli radio had said that the aircraft was a drone, which was shot down over Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, where fighting in Syria's bitter civil war has occasionally spilled into Reuters reported. . Israeli Army Radio says it may have been a warplane.
