The Robinson family said it has already prepared for a non-indictment, and will address the media shortly after the district attorney Ismael Ozanne's 2:30 p.m. CT announcement.

According to the Associated Press, the family also plans to protest the decision with a peaceful march from the apartment home where the 19-year-old was shot to the State Capitol building.

On the night of March 6, officer Kenny responded to a call about a man who had attacked two people and was obstructing traffic. Robinson was unarmed.

After he was killed, the witnesses (who were also brothers) were brought into police headquarters for questioning. An attorney told BuzzFeed News that the two were in police custody for hours without the presence of a lawyer.

On April 3, Madison Police Department released a lengthy document with information about both Robinson and Kenny. The report detailed the eight prior use of force incidents filed against Kenny since 2001 (all of which were considered minor), and revealed that six other police reports had been filed in the wake of the shooting, although five of them were never completed.

Jerome Flowers, who has spoken on behalf of the Robinson family, told the AP that he had hoped Ozanne would inform the family of his decision before announcing it to the public. He added that the DA had initially planned to make the announcement on May 10, Mother's Day.
