Della Curry wrote in a post on Facebook on May 29 that the Cherry Creek School District, which is near Denver, let her go from her job as a kitchen manager at Dakota Valley Elementary School.

She wrote that she knew she was breaking the rules by "giving food to children that did not have money," but she has no regrets. "I do not feel bad about it and I would do it again in a heartbeat," she said.

She claims this "sandwich" consists of a slice of cheese on a hamburger bun.

"I will never understand how the 'best' country in the world considers a cheese sandwich to be adequate nutrition for a child," Curry wrote on Facebook.
