Prince had no known will when he died last week at his home in Minnesota, his sister said in court documents filed Tuesday, possibly complicating the future of the music icon's estate.

"I do not know of the existence of a will," Tyka Nelson, 55, said in court documents.

Prince, 57, died Thursday at his Paisley Estate in Minnesota, where he lived, recorded music, and hosted parties.

In her court filings Tuesday, Nelson asked a Carver County probate judge to appoint an executor of the music legend's estate to protect "substantial assets" in the absence of a personal appointee.

"Immediate action and decisions need to be made to continue the ongoing management and supervision" of the late musician's business interests, Nelson continued. The identities and addresses of Prince's heirs also need to be determined, according to the petition.
