House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday said a BuzzFeed News investigation into Democratic Rep. John Conyers — who settled a wrongful dismissal complaint with a former employee alleging she was fired because she would not “succumb to [his] sexual advances" — was "extremely troubling."

"People who work in the House deserve and are entitled to a workplace without harassment or discrimination,” Ryan said, his first comments on the report.

BuzzFeed News's report also included details about procedures at the Office of Compliance, a secret mechanism by which Congress has kept an unknown number of sexual harassment allegations quiet.

"Last month, I directed the Committee on House Administration to conduct a full review of all policies and procedures related to workplace harassment and discrimination," he said. "Additional reforms to the system are under consideration as the committee continues its review."

Ryan also noted that last week, he implemented mandatory sexual harassment training training for all Congressional members and staff.
