Police are investigating a shooting at a federal building in Manhattan that reportedly left one guard seriously wounded and the suspected gunman dead. BuzzFeed News reporter Nicolás Medina Mora is at the scene.
Two people reportedly have been shot in the vicinity of a federal building in New York City.
The shooting at 201 Varick Street, WABC reported. Details were not immediately available, but paramedics told WABC one person was dead and an other was hospitalized.
According to NBC New York, the shooting happened when a man walked into the lobby of the federal building, shot a security guard, then turned the gun on himself.
The gunman died and the guard was critically injured, NBC New York reported.
Images from the scene showed a group of emergency vehicles blocking the street as New York police officials prepared to address the media.
