“God is good, I finally done something and made my life credible.”
A New York City man is being praised after he jumped onto the subway tracks to save a baby girl who had fallen onto them.
The duo was identified by the New York Daily News as Pamela Farrell and her granddaughter Tabrina.
Police said that the woman was pushing the child out of the subway car when another passenger offered to help her push the stroller across the gap between the platform and the train.
However, when they pushed the stroller it tipped over and Tabrina fell into the gap.
"All I seen was my grandbaby laying down..." Ferrell told CBS New York in part.
Fellow passenger, identified in media reports as Herman Mcgarrah, slipped down into the gap and pulled Tabrina out.
"When I got down there, it was dirty, I was scared, I was kind of shaking," Mcgarrah told the New York Daily News. "Once I got down there, I said 'Please God, don't let the train move.'"
Police said Tabrina was taken to the hospital in stable condition, but the New York Daily News reported that the baby only suffered a small bump on the head.
Ferrell told the newspaper she was overwhelmed with gratitude for Mcgarrah's actions.
"Thank you so much. So much. I thank you so much, and may God be with him and his family," she told CBS New York.
