Fire Burns In Chicago's 100-Story John Hancock Center

One person was injured in the fire, which was reported 50 stories up in the Chicago skyscraper.

On Twitter, fire officials said the fire started in a residential unit of the building.

The Chicago Fire Media account initially said the fire had been brought under control, but later said it had not been struck out and had been declared a 2-alarm fire, meaning more manpower was needed.

The cause of the fire in the 100-story skyscraper was not immediately known.

Firefighters from the Chicago Fire Department were searching the area for possible hot spots.

The extent of injuries suffered by one person was not immediately clear.

Fire officials said the injured person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital to be treated.
