Students at the sprawling university were told to barricade themselves and deny entry as authorities searched for a possible active shooter on campus.
UCLA students were told to lock themselves in a "secure space" on Wednesday after a shooting near the university's engineering school.

"Police are investigating a shooting in Engineering IV," UCLA said in a statement. "Police are on the scene and report that there are two victims."

The status of the shooting victims was not immediately clear.
Los Angeles police are treating the incident as an active shooter situation, and paramedics could be seen entering the Engineering building with a gurney.
Students remained locked in classrooms and were told to barricade doors and deny entry to anyone outside.
The school newspaper, the Daily Bruin, reported that the shooter was white, male, around 6 feet tall, and wearing black pants and a black jacket.
