An Amtrak train derailed in Vermont on Monday, the railroad said. It's unclear if there are any injuries.

This is the second major derailment for Amtrak this year, after a train went off the tracks in Philadelphia, killing 8.

"The Vermont Department of Public Safety has activated the state Emergency Operations Center in Waterbury to assist with a train derailment in the town of Northfield this morning. Local responders are on the scene and assessing the current status," The Vermont State Police said on Facebook.

"Responders from the Division of Emergency Management & Homeland Security, State Police, and Search and Rescue will coordinate assets and assistance to local responders should they be needed. Other state agencies will also be activated should additional assistance be needed."
