Baby Panda Born At The National Zoo In Washington, D.C.

Mei Xiang, a 17-year-old giant panda, gave birth to the cub Saturday morning, the second baby panda she’s given birth to in the Smithsonian National Zoological Park.

This is the second cub Mei Xiang has given birth to. In Aug. 2013, she gave birth to Bao Bao, who also lives in the Washington Zoo.

The giant pandas are two of less than 2,000 in the entire world.

This is Mei Xiang, celebrating her 17 birthday this year.
