The Supreme Court ruled Wednesday that Aereo is violating the copyrights of broadcasters when it captures their signals and delivers them to subscribers for a fee.
The 6-3 decision is a victory for television networks which had argued that Aero was stealing their programming.
Broadcasters including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and PBS sued Aereo for copyright infringement, saying Aereo should pay for redistributing the programming the same way cable and satellite systems do.
In a statement, 21st Century Fox called the decision, "a win for consumers that affirms important copyright protections and ensures that real innovation in over-the-top video will continue to support what is already a vibrant and growing television landscape."
