Skydiving Plane Crashes On Kauai, Killing All 5 Aboard

The small plane burst into flames after crashing Monday, killing two skydiving instructors, two jumpers, and the pilot, officials said.

A small plane crashed on Kauai, Hawaii, at around 9:30 a.m. Monday, killing all five people aboard, officials said.

The plane that was part of a skydiving tour crashed near Port Allen Airport, according to a county statement. Onboard was a pilot, two skydiving instructors, and two jumpers.

Four of the people were declared dead at the scene. The fifth person was pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital. Their identities were not immediately released.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration will work with local authroties to determine what caused the crash.

The plane was a single-engine Cessna 182H, the Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Ian Gregor told the Associated Press. He said it caught fire after crashing.
