A small plane crash landed into the Hudson River near New York on Friday, prompting a major rescue effort by the U.S. Coast Guard and local police.

The plane when down around 7:30 p.m. near West New York, in New Jersey, according to New Jersey State Police spokesman Jeff Flynn.

Flynn told BuzzFeed News one survivor of the crash was found swimming in the water. Two divers were in the river looking for other potential victims, but Flynn did not know how many people had been in the plane, or what kind of a craft it was. He also did not immediately have information about the age or condition of the survivor.

Video shared on Twitter appeared to show a plane flying low over the river.

The Associated Press reported that the plane may have been a World War II-era craft.

Flynn said multiple boats and rescuers were at the scene Friday evening.
