The earthquake was recorded at 10:31 a.m. local time at a depth of 29.2 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The quake prompted the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Hawaii to warn of hazardous waves within a radius of about 186 miles. The Center forecasted waves up to a meter tall.

A long list of cities was initially included in the tsunami warning, but by late Friday night ET the list had been reduced to only two small areas near the coast.
