Singer Anthony Kiedis was reportedly hospitalized Saturday night, forcing the Red Hot Chili Peppers to cancel a concert scheduled in Irvine, California.
The band was set to play KROQ's Weenie Roast event at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre. In a cell phone video purportedly taken before their set, bassist Flea told the crowd they were "unable to play this evening" because Kiedis, 53, was "on his way to the hospital right now."
"We are devastated about it, we're really sad, we love you so much," Flea said.
"Unfortunately, there was a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it," Flea said in the cell phone video.
KROQ confirmed that the set was called off "due to illness."
