St. Louis County Police told BuzzFeed News Saturday night that a police office had been shot, but that he was alive. The dispatcher did not say if anyone else had been shot as well, nor did she describe the circumstances of the shooting.
It was not immediately clear what happened. A Ferguson police dispatcher confirmed to BuzzFeed News that there was an "emergency call" out about 8:45 p.m. CT, but would not elaborate on what had happened. The dispatcher did say that all available police had been deployed.
The shooting came after an evening of protests, and two days after protesters and officers scuffled outside the police station.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, there was a strong police presence in Ferguson.
