President Obama on Thursday evening called for the arrest of the "criminals" who shot two officers in Ferguson during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles.
"There's no excuse for criminal acts. Whoever fired those shots shouldn't detract from the issue. They're criminals," Obama said. "They need to be arrested. And then what we need to do is make sure that like-minded, good-spirited people on both sides, law enforcement who have a terrifically tough job and people who understand they don't want to be stopped and harassed because of their race, that we're able to work together to try and come up with some good answers."
Obama also offered his prayers to the wounded officers and their families.
The president's appearance included plenty of light hearted moments.
Obama read "Mean Tweets" – a recurring skit on the show – about himself.
"Is there any way we could fly Obama to some golf course halfway around the world and just leave him there?" read one tweet from @RWSurferGirl
Mr. Obama added, "I think that's a great idea."
Another tweet read, "A 30 rack of Coors Light is $23 now at Sun Stop. Thanks, Obama."
